For Parents

Parents want what’s best for their young, student athletes. Finding academic and athletic resources, putting together the schedule, and keeping everything organized can be a real challenge.  We make that easier.

For many parents, the biggest challenge is balancing a rigorous training schedule with the traditional school year. For early specialization sports such as gymnastics, the competitive window is over by the time the athlete gets to college. For many other sports such as football or softball, athletic ability can make the difference for getting a scholarship or getting into a top tier university. At the same time, we want young athletes to get an excellent education to prepare them for their inevitable, post athletic career.

Parents report frustrations with schools not being flexible enough to accommodate their child’s athletic needs. Teachers report students being taken out of class to compete or train is disruptive. The young student athletes feel this strain.

Athlete Centered Learning believes that using modern pedagogues, educational models, and technology, parents and teachers can work together to ensure the child’s educational and athletic needs are met at the highest level. By including the young student athlete and coach in the discussion, everyone can ensure that the schedules are rigorous, but not exhausting, and that messages and lessons are reinforced. The grit, determination, and self awareness one needs to succeed as an athlete is not that different from that needed to succeed as a scholar.
