For Coaches

Coaches want what’s best for their athletes. And, those athletes need to be in school. Working together, aspiring elite athletes can achieve both.

Coaches know their sport. And, many coaches are educators at heart. There is a lot that the education world can learn from coaches as it moves from the “sage on the stage” model to the “guide on the side.” Coaches don’t want their aspiring elite athletes to feel pulled between their coaches and teachers. Unfortunately, parents often get stuck in the middle as mediators.

Athlete Centered Learning believes there is a better way. We support including coaches in the education process. High school coaches are frequently teachers. But club sports and early specialization sport coaches may be internationally recognized leaders in their sport, but are still not invited to the table for parent teacher conferences. For aspiring elite athletes, we can change that.

We pulled together resources for coaches, parents, educators, and athletes to have a productive conversation about how best to interact and support the goal of producing an aspiring elite athlete who values learning both in the classroom and on the field of play.
